Nurturing the Next Generation

Hello! My name is Antonia Gibbs. I have been working with children for over 12 years. I began my education journey working in daycare settings for five years, gaining knowledge on working with all age groups (infant and toddler, twos, preschool - age 3, preschool - age 4, preschool - age 5, and school-age rooms) while working on my associate and bachelor's degree.

In August 2017, I earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies and an Associate of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education, Birth to Grade 3 / Generic Special Education, from the College of Southern Maryland. In May 2018, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Birth to Grade 3 / Generic Special Education from Bowie State University. In September 2020, I earned a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Capella University. Between June 2021 and December 2023, I returned to Capella University to expand my knowledge of understanding the mental processes, brain function, and behavior of children and adolescents under the master's in psychology programs for General Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Child and Adolescent Development Psychology. I'm currently working towards my National Board Teacher Certification and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership through Capella University.

I have an Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) Education License in Maryland with the following endorsement areas: (1) Generic Special Education (Infants to Adults); (2) Early Childhood Education (Pre-K - Grade 3); (3) Elementary Education (Grades 1-6); and (4) Middle School: Mathematics (Grades 4-9). Grades that I have taught include: kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and special education servicing middle school students in all subjects. While teaching special education I strengthened my skills in determining each student’s present levels and creating individualized goals to help students learn with confidence and progress faster academically.
